Use Parkinson’s Law.

This law says that “work expands to fill the time available for its completion” – means that if you give yourself a week to complete a two hour task, then (psychologically speaking) the task will increase in complexity and become more daunting so as to fill that week. It may not even fill the extra time with more work, but just stress and tension about having to get it done. By assigning the right amount of time to a task, we gain back more time and the task will reduce in complexity to its natural state.

Use your smartphone less.

Your smartphone sucks up your attention, distracts you a lot more than you think, dilutes your interactions with people, and is a very low-leverage activity. I have started using my smartphone for only an hour a day and haven’t seen it the same since.

If it takes minutes, do it now.

For example, it takes longer to sort the mail to open later than it does to open the mail and take care of it immediately. If something takes two minutes, do it immediately and save the extra five minutes it takes to plan to do it later.

Practice self-forgiveness.

Whatever has happened to cause you guilt or sadness is now in the past, and you cannot change anything so accept responsibility for what you have done in a given situation, apologize if needed and move forward.  Dwelling on the past will not help you in any way and will most likely make things worse for you. When you take the time to forgive yourself, you reduce your stress, and will instantly feel more energized when you release that emotional baggage.

If you aren’t a huge fan of coffee, try green tea which is one of the healthiest beverages on the planet. Not only will it boost your energy, but it also has quite a few health benefits. It is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body. These include improved brain function, fat loss, a lower risk of cancer and many other impressive benefits.
